Registration

Registration is completed through DigiBot. All forms and requirements are to be filled out and uploaded online.

Along with these forms you will need to provide a photocopy of your child’s immunization record, the $90 non-refundable yearly program fee sent via transfer, or cheque.

We will contact families on the City of Ottawa Centralized Waiting List to fill our spaces when they become available.

Important note:

All of our programs’ fee structures are based on a blended 12 month program where monthly fees cover childcare for all regular school days.

Parent Handbook

Our parent handbook has everything you need to know about our BLOOM policies!

*Updated Feb 2025

Communication

BLOOM distributes monthly newsletters and menu calendars. The newsletter informs parents about the program and upcoming events.

We also use an online app which sends parents an email each day with a daily report with photos and programming detailing how their child’s day went! This app allows the educators to send updates, share photos and communicate directly with the parents.

Volunteering

We have an open door policy, meaning parents are welcome to visit the school at any time. We encourage active participation in the program by parents and invite them to share customs or traditions. Parents may also assist in any of the school’s planned activities, demonstrate skills related to their hobbies or work, or help with the various fundraising activities.

All on-site volunteers are legally required to obtain their first aid/cpr and a vulnerable sector reference check. This can be done at your local police department for a minimal charge. You will need photo identification that has your name, date of birth and address.

Licensing

The Ministry of Education (M of Ed), Children’s Services Division, licenses BLOOM Centres For Early Learning under the authority of the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014. A Program Supervisor from the M of Ed, a Fire Inspector, playground inspector and a Health Inspector from the Regional Health Unit facilitate inspections annually.

The Child Care and Early Years Act establishes minimum standards including physical space, staff qualifications, child to staff ratio, health and safety, nutrition, and basic programming.

Cancelation & Discharge Policy

The Board of Directors reserves the right to cancel a program due to insufficient enrollment. In addition, changes to admission to any of the programs are at the discretion of the Board.

The Registrar must receive from the parent one month’s advance written notice of withdrawal from a program. This notice must be given at the beginning of the month whereupon the remaining post-dated cheques will be returned (if applicable). If one month’s notice (as of the first of the month) is not given, notice will be taken from the date it is issued and full payment for the next month will be due.

The Board of Directors, upon the recommendation of the Executive Director, reserves the right to request the withdrawal of a child from a program due to behavioural problems. A parent has the right to appeal this decision and must request, in writing, a meeting with the Board of Directors and the teaching staff.

Kinder/ School Age registration is a full year program. Before & After School care runs from September to June yearly. Full day care runs in July & August. Should you wish to not attend over the summer your registration is complete at the end of June. You will be placed back on the waiting list and contacted should you wish to return in the next school year.

Integration Period

This may be your child’s first experience in a group setting on their own. Children react differently to separation from their parents and/or caregiver. Our goal is to make your child’s entry into the program as comfortable and positive as possible.

Plan to spend some time integrating your child into the program, slowly if necessary. Some children will be fine if you leave after the first visit, others will need more time.

We make every effort to accept and accommodate children with special needs into the program. We work in collaboration with Children’s Integration Support Services (upon approval of funding) in order to create a positive and supportive environment that meets the child’s specific needs.

Further Information

Registration is ongoing throughout the year when spaces are available; we use the waitlist as a tool to offer spaces to children as they appear and need our service. All information on the waitlist is and remains confidential.

Our Director of the program ensures to offer spaces in the program as per the priorities on the waitlist from #1 onward.

When registering their children with us, parents are responsible for completing a series of administrative forms, providing a non-refundable yearly program fee ($90) for their secured spot with our centre . The Regional Health Department requires that all children enrolled in the program must have proof of up-to-date immunization.

The Board of Directors reserves the right to cancel a program due to insufficient enrollment. In addition, changes to admission to any of the programs are at the discretion of the Board. Space permitting, registration is ongoing throughout the school year. This policy will be reviewed by staff upon commencement of employment and annually thereafter. The review will be part of the policy and procedures review and a record of the review will be kept on file.
